Industrial Water Filtration Application

The Reason:
In applications where water is being pumped and re-circulated water quality maintenance is always a problem. In particular, the re-used water in cooling towers becomes fouled with contaminants, such as dirt, grit, biological growth and pipe scales. These contaminants circulate through heat exchangers, chillers and compressors, significantly reducing the system's cooling ability. Calcium and magnesium are the bonding elements that cement the dirt on equipment.
The Process:
The traditional treatment approach is to discharge a portion or all of the water from the system, treat the system with chemicals and add fresh water. Unfortunately, the contamination problem is not corrected, and the symptons return.

By using American Water Systems advanced filtration technology to remove suspended colids rather than depending upon blow down to remove them, blow down rates typically can be reduced by 40 to 60 %. With the 40 to 60 % savings in water and chemicals the water filtration systems typically pay for themselves in 16 to 18 months.
By removing the suspended solids from the HVAC system on a continuing basis heat exchangers, condensers, and heat transfer surfaces do not become fouled. This results in optimized heat transfer and no costly heat exchanger tear down for cleaning or repair.
